Keeping a healthy and happy home is super important and a topic we find very fitting for this year since we have been spending so much time at home! To help keep your home germ free and extra clean, we have gathered a few of our favorite products to share with you!
HOOVER® HEPA+ Cordless Upright Vacuum
A house without a vacuum is…well, messy. We can all admit that owning a vacuum as a homeowner is a must. With kids tracking who knows what into the house and our furry friends shedding all over the house, vacuuming is definitely necessary. But, we’re pretty picky when it comes to vacuums. We discovered this HOOVER HEPA+ Cordless Upright Vacuum and it combines the best of all worlds. It makes vacuuming a breeze with its extreme cleaning power, lightweight cordless design, and HEPA filtration.
It’s the ideal vacuum for allergy sufferers and homes with pets because of its HEPA media bag which has 5 layers of filtration that traps 99.9% of particles (including dust, dust mite debris, and pollen from grass and ragweed). The HEPA media bag traps and contains particles during disposal, making it perfect for anyone with allergies.
One of my favorite features is it’s cordless design. So long are the days you have to move the cord around and replug your vacuum as you move from room to room! It’s powered by a removable, rechargeable ONEPWR™ Lithium-ion battery for fade-free power and runtime. So, with additional batteries, you can have virtually limitless runtime.
This vacuum also offers some nice features including the two-speed fingertip control and premium LED headlights. This makes it simple to transition from cleaning hard floors to carpets and rugs and to spot dirt and debris in low light areas. The last major perk of this vacuum is that it has an extra-large bag that holds up to four times more first and debris than a bagless vacuum, which ultimately means you’ll have more time to clean and will spend way less time dumping dirt!
You can snag your own HOOVER® HEPA+ Cordless Upright Vacuum at hoover.com, Amazon, and national retailers for $299. (*This includes the vacuum, two batteries, a charger, and two HEPA bags*). What a steal!
MicroGold® Multi-Action Disinfectant Antimicrobial Spray
Flu season is upon us and COVID-19 has put a big scare in a lot of us this year. We wanted to make sure our home felt like a safe haven for our family away from the virus and all of the germs so we searched for the best cleaning product to ensure the surfaces in our home are germ free. MicroGold® Multi-Action Disinfectant Antimicrobial Spray gives us that extra peace of mind because it is EPA tested and proven effective to kill the COVID-19 virus in three minutes. You can use this spray on all hard surfaces throughout your home such as door knobs, remote controls, phones, countertops, faucets, light switches, garbage cans, throughout your bathroom, and kitchen.
Disinfectants kill microorganisms on contact, but as soon as they dry and someone touches that surface, cross-contamination happens because it stops working. However; MicroGold® is the only solution that has both a disinfectant and antimicrobial that’s tested and proven to kill the COVID-19 virus. If this formula is strong enough to be used in hospitals, then you know it’s a keeper! It’s available to purchase for use in your home at getmicrogold.com.

We never thought we would be this excited about hand sanitizer…but it’s 2020 and Sense & Dispense is our new best friend this year! Sense & Dispense™ is a touchless, battery powered unit that comes with replaceable ethyl alcohol based gel sanitizer, with glycerin and vitamin E. It has 70% alcohol (ethyl alcohol… not the stuff that smells like tequila, haha!) to kill germs but also has vitamin E/glycerin to prevent dry hands. It also isn’t sticky and has a light pleasant scent. We love it because not many hand sanitizer dispensers are designed for homes (usually only commercial spaces or office spaces). When the bottle is empty, all you have to do is lock in the new one! It’s extremely easy to connect. One refill bottle has 400 dispenses which will last a couple of months. The battery powered on/off button allows for dispensing modes: one light is small dose, two lights is larger dose, and 3 button presses puts it on standby so that you can travel with it. You can find this touchless dispenser at Lowes.
Indoor air quality is one of the top health concerns by the CDC, EPA and WHO, especially this year! Did you that the air inside can be 200 to 500% dirtier than the air outside. So, upgrading your air filters is a great way to improve your indoor air quality.
To save time and money, you can buy your filters online. Here are a few things you should know before purchasing online: Nominal size is used to label filters and is a rounded number that can vary from the actual size which is the true measured dimensions of the filter. Actual size can vary from one manufacturer to the next. MERV is a filter rating for the efficiency of the filter established by ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers). The higher the number, the more efficient the filter.
atomicfilters.com makes MERV 8, 11, and 13 filters in 1, 2 and 4 inch filters and sells OEM and compatibles for Whole House Filters. They are also made in the USA. MERV 8 are white, MERV 11 are blue and MERV 13 are off white. You will notice higher MERV filters have more pleats to help the air flow. Both MERV 11 and 13 are triboelectric or electro static. What does Triboelectric mean? Well, it means that it is using material with dissimilar charges to create an electrostatic charge. This helps draw more particles to the filter from the air flow. If you aren’t sure what filters are best for your system, check with your HVAC contractor.

Carrier® Infinity Air Purifier
The Infinity air purifier works with most forced air HVAC systems and is a product in the Healthy Homes suite of indoor air quality solutions from Carrier®. With every cycle of air that passes through this patented air purifying system, pollen, animal dander, bacteria and other pollutants are trapped and held tightly to the filter. An electrical charge then bursts the cell walls of pathogens it comes in contact with. The result is that homes with the Infinity air purifier can provide healthier indoor environments as part of a comprehensive strategy to reduce the risk of airborne transmission of coronavirus. Families can have added peace of mind that their loved ones have a cleaner and healthier home in which to live, learn, work and play.
Here’s a break down of how this air purifier works:
Particles that may be present in indoor air can recirculate through the HVAC system – The Infinity air purifier treats the air flowing through an HVAC system’s air handler using a three-step, charge/capture/kill process:
Testing at the University of Colorado Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering found that the Carrier® Infinity® air purifier inactivates 99% of coronavirus trapped on the filter. Other third-party testing also concluded that Carrier’s Captures & Kills® technology inactivates 99% of select viruses and bacteria trapped on the filter, such as a common cold virus surrogate, Streptococcus pyogenes and human influenza.
